Madusa Shares the Heartwarming Story Behind Her First Wrestling Paycheck

Madusa

Madusa has shared the touching story of how she spent their first genuine paycheck in wrestling after three years of working for nothing.

Madusa, who is also known as former WWF Women’s Champion Alundra Blayze, had worked for promoter Ed Sharkey for free at the beginning of her wrestling career.

So when Madusa got the opportunity to work at the Cow Palace against Sherri Martel in 1987, it was the first time she made actual money in the wrestling profession – $800 for a night’s labour.

Madusa spoke on Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw with fellow WWE Hall Of Famers Gerald Brisco and JBL to discuss the touching story of what she did with her money:

“I remember when I got my first paycheck guys, it was eight hundred dollars when I wrestled at the Cow Palace against Sherri. Eight hundred dollars back then – I was living the dream.”

“I was so in debt guys, there’s huge backstories up and to this point, I lost everything the first time around. I was like oh my God ok, I couldn’t even eat. I would always go to the cemetery and try to visit my family and there were three markers there and I could never find them. So with that first eight hundred dollar cheque I bought headstones for the gravesites and that’s what I did with it.”
