Liv Morgan In Line For Huge SummerSlam Bout

Liv Morgan SmackDown Women's Champion

Following her incredible victories at Money In The Bank which led to her becoming SmackDown Women’s Champion, it looks like a huge SummerSlam match is in Liv Morgan’s future.

At Money In The Bank, Liv Morgan competed in the eponymous women’s ladder match against Becky Lynch, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Shotzi, Lacey Evans, and Raquel Rodriguez. When all was said and done it was the former Riott Squad member that emerged with the briefcase and the new title of Miss Money In The Bank.

Liv Morgan had no interest in taking her briefcase home with her however as she pounced later in the night after Ronda Rousey retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Natalya. Rousey seemingly tweaked her knee during the closely-fought contest and Morgan used this to her advantage in picking her spot.

Once she handed the briefcase over and her title match against Rousey began, Liv Morgan got caught in the ankle lock before managing to kick Rousey’s leg away and roll her up for the victory.

Now it seems that another showdown between Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan is in the works for SummerSlam.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio after the show, Dave Meltzer reported that the rematch between both women is the working plan for The Biggest Party of the Summer:

“Right now the plan is Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam which kind of surprises me in a lot of ways. Especially because they didn’t leave with any heat, Ronda just hugged her, walked out of the ring, and let her have her moment.”

Meltzer noted that this was a change from the presumed match between Rousey and Charlotte Flair:

“It’s interesting because everyone figured it was going to be Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam and it’s not.”
