Kota Ibushi “Interested” In WWE Run

Kota Ibushi

Former New Japan Pro Wrestling Star Kota Ibushi says he’s “interested” in potentially making the jump to WWE now that he’s a free agent.

Ibushi’s time with New Japan Pro Wrestling came to an end at the end of January 2023, following an acrimonious spell between the two camps. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has not competed in the ring since the G1 Climax final in October 2021 that had to be stopped when Ibushi suffered a bad injury, allowing Kazuchika Okada to pick up the win.

Kota Ibushi previously indicated that he would be happy to speak to AEW regarding his wrestling future but he might be keeping his options open.

Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Ibushi noted that he’d be interested in speaking to WWE about a role for him there and thinks despite the perceived control he might be under in that company, he believes he’d be fine:

“Of course, I’m interested in it. I’m good at producing players & I’ve created stars, so I don’t think there’s anyone who can control me even in that frame. I live so freely.”

Kota Ibushi will compete for Game Changer Wrestling at their shows over WrestleMania weekend and will face Speedball Mike Bailey at Bloodsport.
