Kofi Kingston had a positive update after undergoing surgery to fix his ankle injury that he injured on Smackdown earlier this month.

Over the course of the last 15 years, former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has been one of the most durable and reliable wrestlers in WWE. Even though he has avoided major injuries in the past, pro wrestling is a very physical business and sometimes injuries are going to happen.

During the March 3rd edition of Smackdown, there was a promo segment involving Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, LA Knight, Kofi Kingston (with Xavier Woods) and Karrion Kross all making it clear they wanted to face GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39.

After the wrestlers made their points verbally, there was a brawl between the five men and Woods. There was a spot where McIntyre did a somersault dive over the top rope onto a bunch of guys on the floor. Sadly, the spot ended up injuring Kingston because when McIntyre landed, Kofi’s right leg twisted underneath him. It was a right ankle injury for Kofi Kingston.

The wrestlers that were on the floor were there to try to catch McIntyre to break his fall, but in doing so, Kofi’s right ankle was caught underneath leading to the injury. Accidents happen sometimes.

Kofi had his knee surgery on Friday in Birmingham, Alabama. On Instagram, Kofi shared this positive message while letting us know that he had a FaceTime chat with his New Day brothers Xavier Woods and Big E to let them know he was okay.

“Surgery went very well! Of course I had to FaceTime the boyzzz upon regaining consciousness…Very little recollection of the conversation, lol.

Thanks to everybody who sent me a message! I appreciate it more than you know! I’m home now. Let the road to recovery begin!”

There has been no timeline announced as far as when Kofi Kingston will return to the ring.

Everybody here at TJRWrestling wishes Kofi Kingston the best in his recovery from ankle surgery and we hope he can return to the ring soon.
