Kofi Kingston Suffers Injury On WWE Smackdown
Kofi Kingston is dealing with an injury following a promo segment that took place on the March 3rd edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown.
There was a promo segment during the March 3rd edition of Smackdown with Drew McIntyre starting it off by making it clear that he wanted to face GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 39.
Sheamus interrupted the promo saying he was the one that wanted the Intercontinental Title shot at WrestleMania. LA Knight was next followed by The New Day’s Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, who correctly pointed out that Knight probably doesn’t win enough to earn a title shot. Karrion Kross also was involved in the segment.
As usual in a segment like that, it turned into a fight. That led to a big spot when Drew McIntyre did a somersault dive over the top onto a few wrestlers including Kofi Kingston, who took most of the bump. Apparently, when that happened, Kofi suffered a foot/ankle injury.

On Wrestling Observer Radio last night, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez talked about Kofi’s injury noting that it was a foot/ankle injury. Meltzer said WWE is hoping that Kofi will avoid surgery. It’s unknown if Kofi will be ready for WrestleMania assuming he’s part of the card.
Later in the show, WWE announced a Fatal 5-Way match for next week’s Smackdown involving Kofi Kingston, LA Knight, Karron Kross, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
If Kofi Kingston misses that match on Smackdown next week then his New Day tag team partner Xavier Woods would certainly be a suitable replacement.
It has been rumored that Drew McIntyre will face GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39 for several weeks although it’s certainly possible that Sheamus could be part of it to make it a triple threat match.
Kofi also posted a video showing his right foot that was injured and you can see that is clearly taped up.
