Kenny Omega’s Scrapped Plans For AEW Revolution Revealed

Kenny Omega

It seems AEW did have plans in place for Kenny Omega at Revolution.

Kenny Omega had been on the hunt for the AEW Men’s World Championship in recent weeks, but a loss to Andrade El Idolo knocked him out of contention for a title shot any time soon.

Instead, Hangman Adam Page defeated Andrade at Grand Slam Australia to ensure that he will challenge for MJF’s title at Revolution.

It seems another match had been on the slate for that pay-per-view on March 15th, but instead it’s now taking place on free TV on the February 18th edition of Dynamite.

Kenny Omega Revolution Plans Changed

During a Self Made Session, it was mentioned that the original AEW plan was for Kenny Omega to take on Swerve Strickland at Revolution, but that can’t happen, hence the Dynamite showdown:

Kenny Omega and Swerve—we’re lucky we’re getting that on a TV episode because it was originally planned for Revolution, but Kenny has other commitments in Japan.

Omega is currently scheduled to appear at Capcom Cup 12 in Tokyo, a major Street Fighter 6 tournament that continues through the same weekend as Revolution. Omega has been committed to the event for several years, so getting out of the commitment seems to have proved impossible.
