Kenny Omega Reportedly Not Close To In-Ring Return

Kenny Omega with AEW World Championship

A new report has claimed Kenny Omega’s much-anticipated return to the ring is still a long way off.

Kenny Omega has been one of AEW’s top stars since he joined the company as both a wrestler and one of the four Executive Vice Presidents in February 2019. In December 2020, the Best Bout Machine cemented his place a the top of the company when he defeated Jon Moxley to become the AEW World Champion.

Omega reigned for almost a year before he lost the title at Full Gear in November 2021 to Hangman Adam Page.

Since then, the star has been out of action as he deals with several nagging injuries that include a torn labrum in his shoulder, a hernia, and issues with his knees. Omega also recently revealed that he has been suffering from vertigo since 2018.

In a new update, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that a return date for Kenny Omega is still some time off, meaning he is unlikely to appear at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door supershow that will take place in June.

“The Young Bucks also teased that when Kenny Omega is healthy he would return and face Vikingo. There isn’t even close to a date set for Omega to return, but the third TripleMania isn’t until October and if Omega is healthy this was a match he personally asked for and it’s really because of Omega in a roundabout way that Vikingo is champion to begin with.”

El Hijo del Vikingo is the current AAA Mega Champion. He won the title at TripleMania in December 2021 after it was vacated by Omega.
