Jon Moxley’s “Protege” Pulls Off First-Time-Ever Move On AEW Dynamite
Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has been one of the most integral parts of the promotion ever since he joined the company. Apart from being a huge name on the roster, Mox also acts as a mentor for many wrestlers.
During his time as the leader of the Death Riders, Moxley has taken many young stars like Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia under his wing. Recently, he added another person to his ranks as he took Will Ospreay in his care and helped him rehabilitate from his neck injury.
After training with the Death Riders for the last few weeks, Osprey wrestled an entertaining match with Ace Austin tonight on AEW Dynamite and achieved a historic first for himself.
Osprey and Austin went at it against each other and pushed each other to the limit. Ospreay showcased some signs of the influence Death Riders have had on him and used some of the tactics used by them in his match.
AEW Dynamite sees Will Ospreay pick up a major win
He kept attacking Austin’s injured arm to take back control of the match. He looked to ultimately put him with the Hidden Blade, but Ace collapsed in his spot, leading Ospreay to improvise. Will kicked his left arm and, as he writhed in pain, caught him in the armbar to pick up his first submission win in AEW.
Following the match, Will Ospreay was confronted by Samoa Joe, who came out with his Opps members. Joe was annoyed that Will refused to join his group despite multiple efforts from Joe and spoke about their upcoming match at Double or Nothing.
The two men will be meeting in the first round of the Owen Hart tournament, and Joe had a huge warning for Ospreay. He then left Anthony Bowens and Katsuyori Shibata to take the Aerial Assassin out. However, before they could make a move, the Death Riders came to Will’s rescue and surrounded the ring, leading the Opps to retreat.
