Jon Moxley Wins AEW World Championship

Jon Moxley AEW Champion

The battle of the Blackpool Combat Club took place in New York City on Wednesday night with Jon Moxley emerging from Grand Slam as AEW World Champion once again.

The title match between Moxley and Bryan Danielson came about as a result of CM Punk being stripped of the gold following the fight that took place backstage after All Out. Punk had won the championship from Moxley at the pay-per-view in his home city of Chicago.

Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson came through the company’s Tournament of Champions to a new AEW World Champion with Moxley overcoming Sammy Guevara to make the final while The American Dragon picked up huge wins over Hangman Adam Page and Chris Jericho.

In the main event of Dynamite Grand Slam in Arthur Ashe Stadium, Jon Moxley was able to get the better of his Blackpool Combat Club partner as he choked Danielson out to pick up the win in a gruelling match.

That win makes Jon Moxley the only three-time AEW World Champion in company history. The company’s resident Wild Thing first won the gold back in February 2020 at Revolution when he defeated the promotion’s inaugural champion, Chris Jericho.

Moxley will surely not have long to celebrate his success as watching on for his match was MJF who was holding his trusty poker chip from the Casino Ladder Match that guarantees him a world title shot.
