Jon Moxley is the GCW World Champion that is set to defend his title against Nick Gage in a match where if Gage loses, his career as a pro wrestler is done.

Following Moxley’s win over EFFY at Game Changer Wrestling’s (GCW) event in New Jersey on Saturday night, Moxley said he was seeking real competition. That’s when GCW’s Nick Gage stepped up to Moxley in the ring.

The confrontation between Moxley and Gage led to a challenge for a match. When Moxley suggested title vs. career, Gage replied:

“You f**king damn right I accept that s**t.”

No date has been announced for the match at this point. That is up to Moxley.

Moxley has been the GCW World Champion since beating Matt Cardona last September. Moxley has beaten the likes of Homicide, Blake Christian and Gage himself during his title reign that has lasted nearly one year.

Gage is a former GCW World Champion that is known as the “King of the Death Match.” The 41-year-old Gage has been wrestling for 23 years. Gage has the longest run as GCW Champion from December 2017 to December 2019, which was a 722-day run as the champion. There were 35 successful title defenses during Gage’s run as GCW World Champion.

A match with Moxley will mark Gage’s return to the ring since he hasn’t competed in a match since May.

Gage recently spoke to Rewind, Recap, Relive about his goals in the future:

“I’m about to go on another run. What I want to do, especially at this part of my career, I want to go out there, have fun, tear sh*t up, have great matches, and enjoy myself. That’s what I want to do. When I do that, life is beautiful, wrestling is awesome. Just enjoying life and keep wrestling until I can’t wrestle no more.” (H/T to Fightful)

AEW fans will remember Gage from his match against Chris Jericho in the main event of Dynamite against Chris Jericho on July 28, 2021. That was a big match for Gage, but the next time he faces Moxley for the GCW World Title, it’s the biggest match of his life because his career is on the line.
