John Cena Sets One Condition For WWE In-Ring Return
John Cena is ready for a WWE in-ring return on one condition.
John Cena is widely regarded as the greatest WWE star of all time. He was the face of the company for several years. During the course of his career, Cena won 17 World Championships and competed against some of the very best in the business.
John Cena had accomplished everything there was to do in the ring before, so he transitioned into an actor. Cena has since appeared in many movies. Given how his Hollywood career has been going, Cena decided to retire from the ring to focus on being an actor. Cena announced a retirement tour that was filled with twists and turns. During the tour, he even turned heel for the first time in over 20 years before turning babyface again. He competed in his final WWE match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cena tapped out to the Ring General.
Since his retirement, John Cena has made a few appearances on WWE TV. He was the host of WrestleMania 42. Cena then returned at WWE Backlash to announce the John Cena Classic.
John Cena spoke about making an in-ring return
During an interview with US Magazine, John Cena said that the only way he could ever get back into the ring is if he were offered a huge sum of money.
“I hate speaking in absolutes … “Never” is a strong word. It would be financial suicide for someone to court me in a position where I would have another match, and I truly mean that. So if you’re in the business of torching currency, that’s the only way to get me back in the ring,” he said.
He further added that the fact that the fans want to see him again gets him excited for the John Cena Classic.
“Aside from that, the reason “one more match” resonated so well for me, first of all, I got to express to the fans of how fulfilled I felt when I retired. Second of all, the interest of an audience being like, “We want to see you again!” gets me excited for the new idea of the John Cena Classic,” he added. [H/T US Magazine]
John Cena says it would be ‘financial suicide’ if someone tried to court him for another wrestling match:
