Jey Uso Dedicates WWE World Title Match To Umaga
Jey Uso shared a special message about his huge WWE World Title match and how the date is significant to his late uncle Umaga.
It has been a career year for Jey Uso as part of the legendary tag team known as The Usos with his twin brother Jimmy. The brothers headlined WrestleMania 39 Night One when their record-breaking Tag Team Title reign ended at the hands of Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens.
Since then, Jey’s team with Jimmy has fallen apart while Jey has gone on to have a lot of singles match success. That singles run saw Jey Uso challenge his cousin Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at SummerSlam. Jey only lost because Jimmy helped Reigns win. That led to Jey officially breaking away from the group.
Jey Uso has been one of the most popular stars on the WWE Raw brand to end 2023. At Survivor Series, he was part of the Men’s WarGames team that picked up a win. It was the second year in a row that Jey was part of the winning team in the WarGames match.
On the December 4th Raw in Albany, NY, Jey Uso will challenge Seth “Freakin” Rollins for the WWE World Championship that Rollins has held since May 2023.
Jey Uso Is Dedicating Title Match To Umaga
Umaga is a late WWE superstar who was the brother of WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, which means that he was the uncle of The Usos. The brothers have told the story many times about how it was Uncle Umaga who helped them get into the pro wrestling business.
Sadly, Umaga passed away on December 4th, 2009 due to a heart attack. At the Umaga wasn’t working for WWE, but there were rumors about a comeback. Umaga worked for WWE from 2001 to 2003 and again from 2006 to June 2009.
On Instagram, Jey Uso posted a story saying “this is one is for you” while also mentioning the date. It was a reference to Umaga’s death date.
