Jeff Jarrett’s Current AEW Status Revealed
The truth about Jeff Jarrett’s current status in AEW has seemingly been revealed.
It has now been a year since AEW fans saw Jeff Jarrett compete in the company, with the last match he competed in coming in January 2025 when he lost to Claudio Castagnoli on Dynamite.
Jarrett had made a big deal about signing what he called the final wrestling contract of his career and wanted a run as AEW World Champion before he hung up his boots. While this storyline was floated around on TV, it was quickly abandoned with Jarrett slipping quietly back into the abyss after losing a Lumberjack Strap match to Adam Page on Collision Grand Slam in 2024.
Upon joining AEW, the WWE Hall of Famer had mixed his in-ring work with duties behind the scenes, but it seems he’s lost at least one of those roles.
Jeff Jarrett Loses AEW Office Role
Speaking on a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that Jarrett is still a part of Tony Khan’s company but now only officially as a talent, having been relieved of his backstage duties:
I know he is only a talent now. I think Karen Jarrett was on a per‑appearance deal if I’m not mistaken. Jeff Jarrett was moved out of his office role well over a year ago and does on‑screen stuff now. But it’s another case of a guy that’s still with the company even though his role changed when the company wanted to get younger.
Whether or not AEW fans will see Jarrett back in the ring remains to be seen. Another absent star, Chris Jericho, is rumoured to be on the verge of a return to WWE, while former AEW Trios Champion Powerhouse Hobbs is believed to have already signed with WWE after his AEW deal came to an end.
