Jeff Jarrett Confirmed For Major WWE SummerSlam Role

Jeff Jarrett has been confirmed for a major on-screen role as part of this year’s SummerSlam extravaganza.

It was back at Money In The Bank on 2nd July 2022 when issues escalated between The Usos and The Street Profits. With the Undisputed Tag Team Championships on the line, Jimmy and Jey Uso were able to retain – but not without controversy.

As would be expected, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford took the title holders to their limits, and on a number of occasions it looked like another #andnew graphic would need to be created.

However, the pinfall which earned the victory for The Usos was marred by the fact that replays showed Montez Ford’s shoulder was not on the mat when the referee counted the three.

On the 15th July edition of Friday Night SmackDown, The Street Profits were able to gain a measure of revenge when Angelo Dawkins picked up the victory over Jimmy Uso in the main event. However, a familiar issue reared its head once again.

Although Dawkins was able to get the three count following a Sky High, once again replays showed that the shoulders of his opponent were off the canvas at the time of the pinfall being counted.

Sami Zayn quickly made an appearance to suggest that he should be the special guest referee when the four men met once again with the Tag Team Championships on the line at SummerSlam. His petition went unheard by Adam Pearce, who instead came out and announced that Jeff Jarrett would step in the ring to officiate the contest.

Jeff Jarrett returned to WWE in a backstage role in May 2022, taking on the position of Senior Vice President of Live Events.
