Jacob Fatu Unexpectedly Breaks WWE Character For Roman Reigns

Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns are about to run the family fade back one more time.

Reigns defeated Fatu to retain his World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash. However, Fatu later challenged him to a rematch with a special Tribal Combat stipulation. The two Bloodline members will face each other once again at the upcoming Clash in Italy premium live event on May 30th.

Ahead of their match, Fatu sat down for an interview with ESPN SportsCenter, where he was asked how he felt about being part of the first WWE premium live event in Italy.

Fatu stated that it is an honor to be part of the upcoming PLE’s match card. Speaking further, Fatu briefly broke character to praise his rival Reigns, calling him the “greatest of all time.”

“You know what? If we could just pull the curtain back just a little bit, besides everything else, it’s an honor, and I wouldn’t have it no other way. Since I’ve been here in WWE, it’s been a lot of first times that I’ve been a part of everything. So for us to go for the very first time, PLE in Italy against one of the greatest of all time, Roman Reigns, man, it doesn’t get no better at Clash in Italy.” [H/T Fightful]

Roman Reigns And Jacob Fatu Aren’t Cousins

In a recent interview with the Cheap Heat podcast, Jacob Fatu revealed that although he and Roman Reigns are often regarded as cousins, Reigns is actually his uncle.

Fatu added that because they grew up so close in age alongside The Usos, they always shared more of a cousin-like dynamic rather than an uncle-nephew relationship.

“He’s really my uncle. Roman Reigns’ father, Sika – half of the greatest tag team, The Wild Samoans. Afa and Sika have a sister – my grandmother. That would make Roman my uncle. My first Christmas, my first birthday, my first holidays were with the Usos. I’ve known Roman since we were young. You knew they were gonna be somebody; you just felt it!. Man, you felt it so much to where damn, it kinda rubbed off on us, you know what I mean?”
