Gunther Names WWE Legend He Would Love To Face

Gunther wants to chop a WWE legend’s chest in at WrestleMania.

With Survivor Series right around the corner, Gunther believes he will play an important role on that show as Intercontinental Champion. And ahead of that event, he was interviewed on Steve Fall’s Ten Count YouTube Show.

Several questions came up during the interview, including Gunther’s thoughts on NXT UK closing and being Intercontinental Champion. But then he was asked about WrestleMania, specifically about the online rumors circulating about him facing John Cena:

“Of course, we could see it. I don’t know what’s going to happen or if it’s going to happen. Obviously, that’s something I would love to do. John Cena is one of the legends. Because he’s not really active at the moment anymore, he just pops up, but when he does, if the chance is there for me, I’ll gladly take it.

One of, if not the most popular babyface in this sport of all time. I think I would be a great counterpart to that. I would love to do it.”

If such a match does take place, it wouldn’t be the first to fill such a story template. At WrestleMania 31 John Cena faced and beat Rusev for the US title when Rusev was playing the role of an evil European villain.

And while Gunther does get many cheers from fans, he’s still technically playing the role of…an evil European villain.
