Gunther Makes Shocking WWE Confession: “When It’s Over, It’s Over”
Gunther is one of the most hated men in WWE today.
Over the last year, he has retired three top names in the company, earning the moniker of ‘Career Killer’ in the process.
His list of victims includes former World Heavyweight Champion Goldberg, 17-time World Champion John Cena, and 2-time WWE Champion AJ Styles.
While Gunther added new milestones to his career in the Stamford promotion, he also suffered a couple of setbacks, including losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41, where he tapped out.
To this day, fans often remind him of that incident either during his in-ring promos or matches.
During a recent appearance on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Gunther was asked about tapping out to Jey.
Maintaining his heelish persona, The Ring General admitted that he did not see it as a major issue.
With Jey, at that moment, that’s the thing, I can swallow my pride. When it’s over, it’s over, I have no issue with that. If the audience views that as weakness, let them be. It’s alright. [H/T: Fightful]
The 38-year-old won back his title from Uso on the June episode of WWE Raw.
WWE Undecided On Gunther’s WrestleMania 42 Match
Despite being a heel in WWE, Gunther is a top draw for a major wrestling event like WrestleMania.
The 42nd edition of the Show of Shows is scheduled for April 18 & 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada, but when it comes to the Austrian wrestler, WWE is presently undecided about how to feature him.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, the company has lined out 3 potential opponents for him—Oba Femi, Rey Mysterio, and Brock Lesnar.
On the latest edition of Raw, he found himself in a war against Dragon Lee, AJ Styles’ former tag team partner. Nevertheless, Gunther managed to secure a victory by making Lee tap out to his sleeper hold.
