Goldberg Named Top Wrestler Ever By ESPN Personality, Triple H Reacts: “Come On!”

Goldberg Triple H WWE

Triple H made some interesting comments after ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith went with Goldberg as the best wrestler of all time.

The first WWE PLE to air on ESPN’s streaming service will be Wrestlepalooza on Saturday, September 20th. Because of that, plenty of WWE personalities like Triple H, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and others have been all over ESPN shows promoting the PLE.

Stephen A. Smith is the highest-paid on-air talent on ESPN, who is a major part of the popular “First Take” show that airs for two hours every weekday on ESPN. One of the segments that Smith is famous for is his “Stephen’s A-List,” where he ranks things about a particular topic.

While Triple H was a guest on First Take, Smith presented his “Stephen’s A-List” about his five favorites and the “people who moved me.” On ESPN’s YouTube channel, they say it is Smith’s “top 5 wrestlers of all time.” The order looked like this.

5. Road Warriors aka Legion of Doom – Hawk & Animal
4. The Rock
3. Hulk Hogan
2. Ric Flair
1. Bill Goldberg

Smith would go on to mention Goldberg’s cool entrance, his long undefeated streak in WCW with over 170 wins in a row (even though that number is fabricated), and his overall ability.

Triple H Has Interesting Response To Bill Goldberg As Best Wrestler Ever

Goldberg lost his final WWE match this past July at Saturday Night’s Main Event when Gunther beat Goldberg to retain the World Heavyweight Title. After the match was over, Goldberg was interviewed in the ring, but it was right at the 10 p.m. hour, so NBC cut away, and Goldberg was furious about it.

While reacting to Smith’s list, Triple H did praise Smith for having some legendary names on there, but he was surprised to see his former rival Goldberg in the top spot because most people wouldn’t rank Goldberg that highly on an all-time greats list in part because his match quality isn’t even close to many other people in wrestling history.

“Let me break this down for you. What he does for a profession is piss people off, right? That’s what he does. So what he did is he bait and switched you.

“He set up a list that is arguably accurate – Road Warriors, The Rock, Hogan, Flair. He left out a few because it’s just a top five.

“But then what he does is he comes in, and he Stephen A’s it, and he goes, Goldberg at number one. Because he knows that is the name that is gonna piss off the maximum amount of people.

“I’m not gonna say he’s not great. I love Bill. I think he was a great performer, had great moments in this business. But putting him at one? Come on!”
