FTR’s Future Decided On AEW Dynamite

FTR Dax Harwood Cash Wheeler ROH Tag Team Champions

Speculation on the future of FTR in AEW has run rampant for months with many considering that they were on their way out of AEW having lost their three sets of tag team titles towards the end of 2022.

Dax Harwood has been outspoken about their situation and claimed that their contracts were up in the company at the end of April 2023 – a situation that he maintains has not been resolved.

Harwood and his partner Cash Wheeler set up a huge match with The Gunns, with the AEW Tag Team Champions making FTR put their AEW careers on the line to get another shot at their gold.

On Dynamite in Long Island, New York on MJF Day, the two teams went to war once again as FTR sought to reclaim their place at the top of the promotion’s tag team division and ensure their future in the promotion. If The Gunns won, many thought, Harwood and Wheeler’s future would surely lie elsewhere, and possibly back in WWE.

The Gunns sought to get themselves disqualifies numerous times in the match to maintain their championship status but AEW official Paul Turner resisted – and was even stopped on one occasion by Cash Wheeler – from calling the match off given the stakes involved.

In the end, it was double sunset flips that saw both members of FTR pin both Austin and Colten Gunn simultaneously to capture the AEW World Tag Team Championship for the second time and preserve their careers in the company.
