Former WWE Star Expected To Join AEW

Goldberg spears Dolph Ziggler at WWE SummerSlam

A popular former WWE star is expected to land in AEW.

Tony Khan recently announced that a major star will be appearing at Full Gear to sign their new AEW contract. The All Elite Wrestling President said the mystery performer is “one of the world’s best wrestlers,” and someone “known and respected” by fans everywhere.

This naturally sparked speculation across social media about who the new signing could be. While fans immediately jumped to Will Ospreay and Mercedes Mone, it seems the big reveal won’t be either of them for a variety of reasons.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the new signing won’t be Dolph Ziggler either, despite the rumours. However, Meltzer added that Ziggler is expected to join AEW when his non-compete clause expires. Ziggler was released by WWE on September 21st.

“Within wrestling Dolph Ziggler’s name has come up, but his non-compete with WWE doesn’t end until late December so it would seem impossible for it to be him, although many expect him in AEW.”

Former WWE Star Mercedes Mone Not Signing With AEW – Yet

As mentioned above, Mercedes Mone is not expected to appear at AEW Full Gear.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Mercedes Mone won’t be unveiled as AEW’s new signing — at least not yet. The report notes that although there are plans for the two sides to work together in the future, Mone won’t be the announcement at Full Gear.

The working plan remains for Mone to feature in AEW, although Fightful hasn’t heard when.
