A former WWE Diva recently opened up about her real-life romance with Cody Rhodes.

Layla joined the Stamford-based company in 2006 after winning the Diva Search that same year. The former Women’s Champion had a nine-year run in WWE, during which she formed an iconic tag team with Michelle McCool, LayCool.

Nearly a year after Layla’s WWE debut, Cody Rhodes made his first main roster appearance. The American Nightmare dated the former LayCool member for a couple of years before breaking up, reportedly in 2011, the same year he started seeing his now-wife, Brandi.

In a recent interview with sportsshadow.com, Layla addressed why she dated Rhodes, who was eight years her junior. She admitted that she saw his potential to become a big star. She also congratulated him on achieving his dreams.

I, 100%, saw that. I started dating Cody because I knew he was going to be a star and he had a lot of dreams and everything that he told me that he was going to do, he’s done it. So, congratulations to him because for someone who can tell you their dreams and they’re going to make it happen and they do make it happen, congratulations! So yeah, I mean of course I saw it because I wouldn’t have dated him or been with him if I didn’t see everything that people will see now. So yeah, I did.

Layla Addresses Potential Return To WWE

During the same interview, Layla addressed the possibility of returning to the Stamford-based company for another run. The former Women’s Champion retired from wrestling in July 2015.

While the 48-year-old noted that she was out of shape, she stated that only a LayCool reunion would convince her to make a comeback.

Well, for one, I’m so out of shape. Two, I don’t want to break a hip or something. The only thing I think that I would ever consider or think about doing is if I would do a LayCool reunion. That’s it. If it’s Michelle and I, then I’ll do it. That would be amazing.

Well, for myself, I’m sure for Michelle and I’m also sure for the fans of LayCool who would love to just have a nostalgic moment. Like, of course, why not? Like, before it was always a no, but now it’s like why not? If it happens and if WWE decides that, that’s something they would want to do, yeah, I would do it, I think. [H/T: SportsShadow]
