Former WWE Champions Relegated To Working NXT Shows
Two former WWE champions might be questioning their future after they were left working NXT live events.
The last time Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins were seen in the ring on SmackDown was all the way back in early October when they lost in their quest to become WWE Tag Team Champions against The Wyatt Sicks.
Since then, they appeared on Main Event but have since disappeared completely from TV, raising questions about their status. Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that neither of the Street Profits is currently injured, and the reason for their absence is to freshen the pair up:
Neither of the Street Profits are hurt. The decision was just made to take them off TV to allow them to freshen up.
But now it seems the pair are heading back to the ring, but not where WWE fans might expect.
From WWE Tag Team Champions To NXT Live Events
PWInsider has reported that the Street Profits are scheduled to work upcoming dates on NXT live events. It remains to be seen if they will showcase new characters that might then be introduced onto the WWE main roster or if they will continue to be the fun-loving Profits that people know and love.
If the return to NXT does not kickstart their careers, however, then questions might be asked about the team’s long-term future in WWE.
Someone very close to the Street Profits is still the favourite to win the Royal Rumble despite not being seen in eight months.
