Ex-WWE Star Admits Having Heat Over Ring Gear

A former WWE superstar admits that management didn’t like some of her ring gear choices. 

CJ Perry is a former WWE manager and wrestler who worked for the company from 2013 to 2021. She is married to WWE superstar Rusev. They were separated for a period, but they have gotten back together in recent years.

In her WWE career, Lana went from a Russian used to infuriate the fans to someone who opened up over time and eventually became a fan favorite. In the ring, she was mostly an underdog who didn’t win very often, but when she did, it was treated like an upset.

While speaking on her Identity Crisis podcast, Perry recalled a time in NXT when she had heat because of what she was wearing.

“I had a little romper on and then I put tights on like this. And when I did went over, the romper went up my butt a little bit. Nothing crazy. Nothing like, you know, Rhea Ripley doing the Rikishi dance at the live event or, you know, nothing like that.

Just it went up like a little bit and it was a really big deal. I got called in by the head coach at the time and got talked to.”

WWE Had Issues With Lana’s In-Ring Gear

When she joined the main roster, there were apparently still issues with Perry’s gear choices.

“It’s so interesting. They always had issues with my wrestling gear. Like even on the main roster.

And it’s so funny because I watch the stuff now and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I would have gotten over so much more if I could let my gear go up my ass and show my ass.’ But I had to put shorts underneath my leotard because they just said I guess my ass was out too much.”

While speaking about their marriage and separation, CJ Perry and Rusev confirmed that the situation wasn’t a work and they nearly got divorced before they eventually reconciled. The couple is happily married again.
