3-Time World Heavyweight Champion Is Coming Back To WWE; Charlotte Flair Reacts
There’s some major news about the return of this WWE legend, and stars are now reacting to it.
John Cena retired from wrestling at the tail end of last year after losing to Gunther in his final ever in-ring bout. The Ring General wrapped Cena in his deadly sleeper hold until the Greatest of All Time gave up and tapped out.
Cena has signed a new five-year deal with the Stamford-based company and will serve as an ambassador. Soon enough, a blockbuster announcement was made, and John Cena was headed to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cena was called to host the event, and fans loved having the Champ back in the ring, even if it was in a suit, announcing the attendance for the night and the main event match. Cena shared two major moments in the ring, one was Bianca Belair’s pregnancy announcement and the other was Danhausen’s segment with “little people” and the Miz.
Now, with only a few weeks removed from ‘Mania, Cena is making yet another comeback, this time at the Backlash PLE on May 9th.
WWE Star Charlotte Flair Reacts To News Of John Cena’s Return
Cena announced on his official X account that he would be returning at Backlash and has some history-making news to share.
“It’s official! I’m headed to #WWEBacklash! After months of planning and effort, I am SO excited to break some history-making news! I can’t promise it’ll be perfect but I can promise it will change the WWE experience for Superstars and fans! C U Live Saturday in Tampa or at home on the @espn app!”
Fans are always more than excited to see John Cena, who was the face of WWE for well over two decades before hanging up his boots last year, but even WWE stars are excited to have him back.
Charlotte Flair, in an interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter, addressed the legendary star’s return. She said that Tampa, Florida, where Backlash will take place, is very close to where Cena lives. She praised him, saying every appearance he makes is of major significance.
Well, John Cena! Tampa is his backyard. He’s the GOAT. I feel like any time he’s in the ring, he’s either making history or breaking records.
Flair then mentioned that Cena is one of the Greatest of All Time (GOATs).
And, even though he’s retired, any time we have the opportunity to have Cena back in the ring, it’s going to be special, because he is special. He’s one of the GOATs.”
