Update On Former Champion Returning To IMPACT Wrestling

Impact Wrestling

A former champion in IMPACT Wrestling is likely going to return to the company very soon.

Earlier this year, Josh Alexander was the IMPACT Wrestling World Champion and Mickie James was the Knockouts Champion, but both of them had to relinquish their titles due to injuries.

Mickie James was heartbroken about ending her fifth reign as the Knockouts Champion due to a rib injury. Mickie held the title for just over two months before giving it up in March. Deonna Purrazzo would go on to win the vacant title in April.

It has been reported by Fightful Select that Mickie James has been cleared to return as of a few weeks ago.

In addition to that, Mickie’s husband and IMPACT Wrestling’s Nick Aldis recently told Cultaholic Wrestling that she was ready to return.

“She’s 100 percent, so now it’s just a case of she’s just waiting for her right moment. We do have interests outside of wrestling, we have a supplement company, and Mickie has her show and the music stuff, and we have the horses. We’re also producing a show in Australia and Mickie is also a producer of the Last Match musical. She’s really just sort of weighing up where she wants to spend her time because we also have a son.”

“So it’s also a case of making the best use of our time that means we have to be away from our son. She needs to be on something that she feels is valuable and worthwhile. She’s certainly going to show up again in IMPACT Wrestling at some point but, like I said, it’s finding the right time. She’s been around enough, she’s not in a rush just to get back for attention’s sake. She’s going to bide her time and make it meaningful.”

It was also noted by Fightful that even though Mickie James is and always has been a free agent since coming back to IMPACT in the last two years, she is a woman of her word and she hasn’t gone back on any commitments with the company.

IMPACT Wrestling has tapings this weekend in Atlanta starting today (June 23) and Saturday, June 24th. They also have an Australian tour next weekend on June 30th and July 1st. That is followed by the big Slammiversary PPV on July 15th and tapings the next day.
