Ex-WWE Writer Admits Conflicted Feelings About Triple H
A former WWE employee who worked with Triple H isn’t sure what to think about the Hall of Famer.
The WWE career of Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has been an interesting one because of what he’s done in the ring and outside of it.
As a wrestler, Triple H was a two-time WWE Hall of Famer who was a major part of the roster for about 25 years and headlined many major shows, including multiple WrestleManias. As a 14-time WWE World Champion, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest superstars ever.
There are also many people who would think fondly of Hunter as one of the best heels in WWE history. While he did spend plenty of time as a babyface, especially as part of D-Generation X, his main event heel work separated him from many others in the company.
In his current role as WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Hunter is running the show creatively on the main roster after having a similar role in NXT for most of the 2010s.
Vince Russo Doesn’t Know This Version Of Triple H
During an appearance on former WWE Superstar Maven’s YouTube channel, former WWE writer Vince Russo spoke about the Hunter Hearst Helmsley he knew. When Russo worked for WWE in the late 1990s, it was early in The Game’s career. Russo was part of the writing team when Hunter won his first WWE Title in April 1999, but he left in October of that year, so he wasn’t around for the bulk of Hunter’s main event run.
“This is difficult for me, and I’ll tell you why. The Triple H I worked with, was a sweetheart of a guy. I worked with the early years of Triple H when he had the valet on his arm. The Triple H I worked with, I loved. Chyna, too, Chyna was a part of him. I loved them both.”
As he continued, Russo admitted he didn’t know what Levesque was like after that.
“Now, I don’t know the Triple H who married Stephanie McMahon. I don’t know the Triple H with power. I think I’ve had one email exchange with Triple H in the last 25 years, and that’s been the extent of it. So I can only base it on the guy that I worked with, and the guy that I worked with, an absolute sweetheart of a guy.”
Next up for Triple H and WWE is Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1st, featuring four title matches. After that, they are on the road to Survivor Series on November 29th in San Diego.
