Ex-United States Champion Tipped To Face Gunther At WWE WrestleMania

Gunther still has no opponent for WWE WrestleMania 42.

The Ring General has been involved in major storylines over the past year, retiring three WWE legends: Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles. However, the company’s plans for the former World Heavyweight Champion have yet to be announced.

The Austrian star was reportedly set to square off with WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at this year’s Show of Shows. These plans, however, were derailed by the wrestling legend’s injury.

Other reports provided an update on Gunther’s WrestleMania status, claiming Triple H and his creative team would not have The Ring General miss the Showcase of the Immortals.

WWE Analyst Wants Gunther To Face LA Knight

On the latest episode of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested that LA Knight face Gunther at WrestleMania next month.

Like The Ring General, the former United States Champion is not currently booked for the Show of Shows. Roberts proposed that The Megastar losses to Gunther in Las Vegas.

We don’t know who Gunther is facing. But if it’s me, I’m doing Gunther vs. LA Knight. That’s my pick right now. Who should Gunther face? LA Knight. I think LA Knight should voice every criticism that any fan has of Gunther. I think what you’re trying to do is maintain Gunther’s heat. And that doesn’t necessarily revolve around retiring people.

But there’s a huge portion of the audience that wants LA Knight to win at WrestleMania. And the idea that Gunther beats LA Knight at WrestleMania would be nuclear heat. I mean, they would hate that. Hate it. And that’s why it’s kind of perfect for Gunther. That’s the spot that Gunther should be in the spot where he wins matches that people hate seeing him win.
