Eric Bischoff On Being Disappointed With “Bitter” CM Punk’s AEW Run

Eric Bischoff has branded the current backstage chaos in AEW as a joke, whilst singling out CM Punk for being paid far more than he’s worth.

Following his explosive tirade at post-show media scrum at All Out, it’s now common knowledge that there was a backstage brawl involving CM Punk and The Elite, which has led to the AEW World and Trios Championships being declared vacant on the 7th September 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite. It has also led to a number of superstars, including those former title holders, being suspended whilst many expect that there is no way back for Punk with the company.

Despite making a number of appearances on AEW television, in recent months Eric Bischoff has become very disillusioned with the direction of Tony Khan’s company, making it clear he doesn’t believe that a war with WWE is an even comparison.

In a discussion on his Strictly Business podcast, Eric Bischoff gave his take on what went down after All Out and how the amount of money CM Punk is on doesn’t match what he’s worth.

It’s a joke. A disaster. Clearly. But even if you wouldn’t have had what happened Sunday, even if Punk hadn’t had his whiny ass b*tch meltdown and eviscerate his boss, who’s paying him millions of dollars, far more than he’s worth.

Eric Bischoff went on to say that he feels AEW needs to move on to their next top level talent rather than sticking with the former two-time World Champion.

I’m disappointed, and I was hopeful like a lot of people, but clearly, since he’s arrived there, in my opinion, he s*** the bed. The guy can’t have a match without being hurt and put on the shelf for six months. He’s old, he’s brittle and he’s bitter. Move him on, next.

The Death Triangle were crowned new AEW Trios Champions on the 7th September 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite, whilst a tournament is ongoing to determine a new World Champion. With everything else going on, it is now believed CM Punk has undergone surgery and will be out for an extended period.
