Drew McIntyre Reflects On Vince McMahon’s Vision For His Character
Triple H has a different view of Drew McIntyre.
Drew McIntyre burst onto the WWE scene as Vince McMahon’s “chosen one,” but famously, things didn’t pan out as either man had hoped.
Five years later, McIntyre had slid well and truly down the card before eventually being released in 2014. However, equally as famously, he reinvented himself and re-signed with the company, going on to become a Royal Rumble winner and World Champion.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, McIntyre compared working with McMahon — the man who fired, and then re-hired him, and Triple H, who has overseen his most recent run of success.
“I mean, it’s different. Obviously, Hunter learned under Vince, and he created the world that we’re currently in. But Hunter is very much of the modern thinking.”
For Vince, I think for me personally, he had a certain image of me, and he was always looking to protect me as this warrior character.”
If I went to try something outside the box, the stuff I’m doing now, for me personally, it probably wouldn’t happen just because he was like, ‘No, this is my Drew. This is my warrior. This is how I see it.’ And Hunter was very much of the mindset, we’re going to try something different.”
We’re going to try this and let you be yourself and let this personality that he knew I had shine. And from the second we had our first conversation when he took over, it’s been exactly that. We’ve developed this McIntyre character, and we watched what happened with the Bloodline.”
Drew McIntyre Holds Nothing Back On Travis Scott
During the same conversation, Drew McIntyre branded Travis Scott a “piece of sh*t,” adding that he screwed up the main event of WrestleMania 41.
McIntyre made the comments while discussing the merits (or not) of celebrity wrestlers such as Jelly Roll. Although he was critical of many, he made sure to point out that his tag team partner was an “anomaly” and someone who’d taken to wrestling better than most.
