Drew McIntyre Sees Rising WWE Star As Future Challenger

Drew McIntyre

If Drew McIntyre becomes WWE World Heavyweight Champion again, he has a rising Raw star in mind as a future opponent.

At the WWE Clash at the Castle PLE on June 15th, Drew McIntyre will have a significant home-field advantage against the World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. That’s because the 2024 Clash event takes place in Glasgow, Scotland, which is McIntyre’s home country.

Since McIntyre lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Priest at WrestleMania 40 due to Money in the Bank cash-in (after an attack by CM Punk), WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque awarded McIntyre a rematch against Priest.

When WWE used the Clash at the Castle name for their September 2022 PLE, McIntyre got one of the loudest crowd reactions of his career when the fans in Wales showed support for the Scottish Warrior. McIntyre lost that night against Roman Reigns due to Solo Sikoa getting involved. This time around, McIntyre hopes to leave the Clash PLE as a World Champion again.

Should McIntyre beat Priest, he would have a long list of challengers on the WWE Raw brand. While talking to the Indian Express, McIntyre was asked about future opponents and named Raw newcomer Bron Breakker, a former NXT Champion, as a potential rival.

“I am so focused on winning back the title that I really have not given any thought to the future. However, as was the case when I was the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time, I will take on all comers. Like if you earn the right to fight for the title, you’re gonna get yourself a title opportunity. I see some people coming up with a lot of hunger and a lot of potential as well. One particular person of interest is Bron Breakker; he has been tearing through the competition, but at the same time, he’s got to learn how to harness the anger in the right direction.”

“I’m sure I’ll see him down the line. We got a roster of very talented people and a few people injured. I’m sure they’ll be returning very soon on Raw and SmackDown. We’re already on fire right now. The company is quite hot, and once the injured people return, we are gonna go even to the next level again. It’s crazy how popular WWE is right now.”
