Drew McIntyre will be staying with WWE.

As confirmed by The Rock on Instagram, Drew McIntyre has finally signed a new deal with WWE, ending one of the longest-running contract sagas in recent memory. The Scottish star was set to become a free agent at the end of May, after a contract stalemate lasting several months.

Despite an expectation from WWE that McIntyre would re-sign, nothing could have been taken for granted as his free-agent status neared.

However, both McIntyre and WWE can look to the future with a new multi-year deal done and dusted.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE reached out to McIntyre in March and there was a “lot of back and forth” before a deal was reached. The report notes the contract is for “big money” across multiple years.

Furthermore, there’s a feeling more new contracts for other stars will be announced soon.

A report from PWInsider said the deal was only agreed in recent days, with one source commenting that it’s for three years.

Drew McIntyre Taking Break From WWE Television

In the same report, PWInsider noted that the former World Champion won’t be back on television “immediately.” Drew McIntyre has been working with a “badly hyperextended elbow” in recent weeks after picking up the problem at WrestleMania.

McIntyre’s desire to work WWE’s recent UK tour despite the injury is said to have impressed those within the company.

The news about McIntyre comes after Finn Balor signed a new deal with the company.
