Dolph Ziggler’s Release “Shocked” AEW Star

Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler’s release by WWE really caught the attention of a current AEW star.

On September 21st news began to emerge that WWE had restarted mass layoffs on its roster when Mustafa Ali announced he was no longer working with the company followed by Emma doing the same. These were followed by some reports of departures while some other stars confirmed that they had left WWE.

Dolph Ziggler was the highest-profile release as the only former World Heavyweight Champion let go and many of wrestling’s stars of past and present were quick to pay tribute to The Showoff as his nineteen-year stint with WWE came to an end.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa gave her thoughts on the WWE releases and said Ziggler’s was the one that caught her most off-guard:

“That’s the one that I was the most shocked (by). First of all, he’s like the nicest human being. I’ve seen him a couple times at the airport and he remembers your name. He’s super sweet. For me, it was one of those guys that I never thought that (WWE) were going to let go because he always played ball.

“For me, when I used to watch him, one of the things that I really enjoy as a worker is how impeccable his work was, and how great he makes all his opponents look the way that he sold, the way that he told the story.

“He seemed to have fun (with) what he was doing, regardless if it was little or not too much. I never really saw him being that type of person that would be complaining on social media about the lack of opportunities. Every time that he had an opportunity, he ran with it, and he did what he needed to do.”

One of the names from NXT released alongside Dolph Ziggler has now gone public with their own comments about their departure and says they asked to leave the company.
