Dave Meltzer Blasts WWE Title Match As Worst Of 2025

It’s been claimed that a recent WWE match might have been so bad that it could be the worst in the company in 2025.

On the September 26th edition of SmackDown, The Street Profits put their recent issues behind them to defeat Carmelo Hayes and The Miz to earn a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship. Giulia teamed up with Kiana James to beat B-Fab and Michin, and Sami Zayn overcame the challenge of NXT star Je’Von Evans to retain his United States Title.

The night’s main event saw Tiffany Stratton retain her WWE Women’s Championship in a triple threat match also featuring Jade Cargill and Nia Jax. The finish of the match ended up horrendously botched, leading to the referee commenting publicly on the mess.

But it seems the ending wasn’t the only problem with the bout.

WWE Match Really The Worst Of 2025?

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted he thought the match was the worst in the company in 2025, despite it being rehearsed on live events:

I thought it was the worst WWE match of the year. I was shocked at how bad it was in a lot of ways.

One thing was that the crowd didn’t mind it. They were very kind because there were so many botches, stuff that nobody else in the company botches. And it wasn’t just Jade, it was like Nia didn’t look good, Tiffany looked really green, more than she’s looked for probably since she was really green. Stuff that she always hits was not there.

The thing that’s so interesting is they’ve done this match at house shows. It’s a practiced match and it’s the same match that they’ve done. The finish of that match is the spot where – when the ref stopped counting, that’s been the finish at the house shows. So I believe that was the final spot.

One WWE Hall of Famer has also given their thoughts on what went wrong with the match.
