Date For Mercedes Mone’s AEW Debut Revealed

Mercedes Mone

The speculation surrounding Mercedes Mone’s wrestling future appears to be over as a date has been set for her expected AEW debut.

Mercedes Mone walked out of WWE in May 2022 when she was still known to fans as Sasha Banks. She eventually received her release from the company heading to Japan where she competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling and held the IWGP Women’s Championship.

In May 2023, Mone was injured while battling Willow Nightingale in a tournament final to crown the first NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship and she has been out of action ever since.

At different times, Mercedes Mone was expected to be heading back to WWE but many expected her to head to AEW after she appeared on-screen for the company at All In in August 2023.

Tony Khan Announcement Points To Mercedes Mone

Now Tony Khan has made a big announcement on Dynamite where he revealed the company will be bringing a special Dynamite titled “Big Business” to the TD Garden in Boston on March 13th.

In a similar vein to how the company welcomed CM Punk to the company in 2021 with the announcement of a huge show in his hometown of Chicago, the show being held in Mone’s hometown and touted by Khan as a very important night for the company, all signs point to Mone’s debut happening there.

The clearest sign that Mercedes Mone has been signed by AEW for some time came when WWE was asked if they still had an interest in the star. WWE sources noted they did not want to be involved in contract tampering indicating Mone was already signed up elsewhere.
