WWE Gives Clearest Indication Of Where Mercedes Moné Has Signed

Mercedes Mone

In yet another update about Mercedes Mone, an interesting comment from somebody affiliated with WWE has made it clear where she is headed next.

It appears that Mercedes Mone is heading to All Elite Wrestling. While there were hopes by people in WWE that she might be going back there to resume her career as Sasha Banks, it doesn’t appear likely.

On New Year’s Day, the news broke that it appeared as though Mercedes Mone had struck a deal with All Elite Wrestling after talks broke down with WWE about a return.

One day before the WWE Royal Rumble, Fightful Select reports that a WWE source shot down a possible Rumble appearance by saying this: “Well, we’re not really interested in contract tampering with her, so I doubt it.”

As for where Mercedes is, PWInsider Elite reported that she was in her hometown of Boston so she was nowhere near Tampa, Florida where the Royal Rumble will take place. PWI Elite noted that “there’s been zero discussion about her in WWE circles of late” while some in WWE believe she is AEW-bound. There are also some people within WWE taking a stance of “I won’t believe she’s not returning until she’s somewhere else.” It was also added that Mone/Banks is not expected at the Royal Rumble.

Mercedes Mone AEW Announcement Could Be Soon

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Mone was doing some acting work while her AEW debut could be announced soon.

“Mone was doing acting work but there is talk her debut will be played up extremely big and that announcement could be soon. She has been back training to return to the ring. Her coming to AEW was expected for months, even before they showed her at Wembley.”

No date has officially been announced. AEW’s next pay-per-view event is Revolution on March 3rd.
