Congratulations To WWE Legends CM Punk And AJ Lee
CM Punk and AJ Lee have reached a milestone together.
Today, on June 13, the WWE couple celebrates their 12th wedding anniversary, having gotten married in 2014.
Both superstars are currently away from TV, with Punk’s absence being disputed heavily by critics and fans. They competed in separate matches at WrestleMania 42, dropping their respective titles in the process.
While AJ Lee lost the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Becky Lynch, CM Punk was dethroned as the World Heavyweight Champion by Roman Reigns.
Following her loss, Lee uploaded a lengthy post on Instagram, thanking her peers for their support throughout her return to the company after a decade.
Punk addressed his defeat on the April 20 edition of Raw, where he was also confronted by the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, teasing a future title match.
CM Punk’s WWE Return Being Planned For SmackDown
The exact date of CM Punk’s return to WWE has not been revealed, although Dave Meltzer reported that it makes sense to bring him back on the July 6 taping of Raw in Chicago, his hometown.
Despite the numerous rumors floating on the internet, inside sources have confirmed that Punk is enjoying a much-deserved break, and there is no truth to speculations.
Since returning to the Stamford promotion in November 2023, The Second City Saint has been a member of the Raw roster. However, a report by Wrestling Observer has claimed that Punk might be moved to SmackDown after his current hiatus ends.
The logic behind the decision is that the red brand is already star-studded with the likes of Roman Reigns, The Usos, Jacob Fatu, Seth Rollins, Oba Femi, etc., and SmackDown could use a big name like Punk alongside Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Rhea Ripley, Drew McIntyre, and Randy Orton.
Moreover, having Punk on the blue brand would allow WWE to honor the feud it had teased between him and Rhodes before Punk’s hiatus.
The plan right now is for CM Punk to return on Smackdown, which is basically a balancing act.
The belief is with RAW having Reigns, Rollins, The Usos, Fatu, Femi, Logan Paul and Breakker that Punk made more sense on Smackdown with a top tier of Rhodes, Gunther, Ripley and soon… pic.twitter.com/lZnlzFFyT5
