BREAKING: Cody Rhodes’ Next WWE Title Defense Officially Announced
Cody Rhodes’ next title defense was officially confirmed on WWE SmackDown.
Gunther has been after Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship over the past few weeks. These two men finally locked horns at WWE Clash in Italy. During the match, the American Nightmare hit the Ring General with his Cross Rhodes and pinned him. However, Gunther’s foot was under the ropes when the pinfall happened.
As a result, the Ring General was furious tonight on SmackDown, and he demanded a rematch. Cody Rhodes came out and was willing to give him his title shot when Sami Zayn interrupted them. Sami also demanded a match against Cody. As things escalated between them, a brawl broke out.
Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther is set to take place in a few weeks
Following this segment, Gunther was furious when he confronted Nick Aldis. He threatened legal action against the SmackDown GM if he didn’t fix things. Later on in the show, Nick Aldis met with Cody backstage and asked if he was serious about giving the Ring General a rematch.
Cody said he would face Gunther tonight, but the latter had already left. Nick Aldis told the American Nightmare that he was on the phone with Gunther’s lawyers, and the Ring General wants a rematch, but he has one stipulation, which he will let them know next week. Cody then told Aldis that their title match needs to happen in two weeks, since he is not willing to wait any longer.
Nick tells Cody backstage that he has heard from Gunther’s legal team and he wants the match but there is a condition… that we won’t find out until next week 👀
