Shocking Mistake With Cody Rhodes-Randy Orton WWE WrestleMania Feud
Randy Orton won this year’s Elimination Chamber match to become the No. 1 contender and will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.
Over the past couple of months, the WWE Universe has been highly excited about this feud, given their deeply established mentor-mentee relationship that spans nearly two decades. When Orton turned heel, the storyline instantly became even more compelling.
However, just two weeks before WrestleMania, a major twist shook the course of the rivalry. On April 3, Pat McAfee was revealed as Orton’s mystery ally, and since then, the storyline has received heavy criticism from fans and critics alike.
McAfee’s involvement in the Orton vs. Rhodes feud has become a major talking point within the wrestling community, with even WWE talent reportedly expressing frustration.
WWE Legend Questions Pat McAfee’s Place In Randy Orton Vs. Cody Rhodes Rivalry
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently shared his perspective on Busted Open, and he is not a fan of McAfee’s role in the storyline. Bully Ray stated that while McAfee has done a “tremendous job” in WWE, he has “no business” being involved in the Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton storyline, highlighting that bringing McAfee into the storyline was a big mistake.
“For three years we have been so excited. Fans have been so excited for Randy and Cody. The boys have been excited for Randy and Cody and now we’re going to get Randy and Cody, but we’re getting people thrown into it that have no business being there. We don’t want them there. It’s not working. It’s not helping and it’s making… people angry…”
“We’re still going to wind up getting Pat McAfee and Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes and Jelly Roll at Backlash. I have nothing against Pat McAfee… Pat has done a tremendous job when he’s been thrown in the ring. But nobody wants Pat McAfee f****** involved in this story or a match between Orton and Rhodes. Nobody. The boys in the locker room hate it. Creative hates it.” {H/T Wrestle Features}
Pat McAfee recently addressed the heavy criticism that he has been getting following his WWE return. This is what he had to say on his show:
“‘How come it was McAfee on the phone?’ Because I fucking called him and told him, that’s why. ‘I wanted it to be The Rock.’ You think The Rock wants to do anything for you? ‘I wanted it to be Vince McMahon.’ Vince? Sorry. It was me. It was me,” he said. [H/T Fightful]
