Cody Rhodes May Have Suffered Very Serious Injuries At WWE WrestleMania 42
The injuries Cody Rhodes sustained at WWE WrestleMania 42 may be extremely serious.
The American Nightmare defended his Undisputed WWE Championship last night against Randy Orton at WrestleMania Saturday. Although he won the match following The Viper’s turn on Pat McAfee, he was later assaulted by his former mentor.
The shocking moment came when Orton brought back the banned punt and struck the Undisputed WWE Champion in the head. In the aftermath, Rhodes’ left eye appeared swollen shut as medics tended to him backstage.
WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg also announced on the post-show panel that Cody Rhodes will be placed in concussion protocol for three days.
Stevie Richards Says Cody Rhodes May Have Suffered Several Serious Injuries
Former WWE star Stevie Richards broke down the incident on his What Went Wrong? series on The Stevie Richards Show.
The veteran pointed to the swelling on Rhodes’ face, suggesting he may have suffered a fractured orbital bone. Richards also stated that the Undisputed Champion likely sustained a concussion.
Richards further questioned whether Rhodes may have suffered internal eye damage. He warned Rhodes must get his eye checked to make sure his vision would not be impaired, adding that the punt could leave the second-generation star with permanent vision damage.
Cody needs to get that checked out to make sure his vision’s not going to be impaired, his vision’s not ging to be affected, not only short term, but also long term. They basically know he has a chance of happening and what might happen to me is that Shawn Michaels thing. Could be a reality. There’s so many things with this ‘lay it in, brother, WrestleMania’ mentality that could cause Cody permanent vision damage and I don’t want to see that. [8:14 onwards]
