CM Punk defeated Jey Uso to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI on November 1, 2025.

Punk made his epic return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, shocking fans in Chicago after nearly a decade away. Ever since coming back, he went straight for the big time, always chasing the World Heavyweight Championship.

2025 has been wild for him: after surviving crazy rivalries with Seth Rollins and others, Punk finally won the world title at SummerSlam. But Seth Rollins didn’t let Punk hold the gold for long. After Punk’s SummerSlam win, Rollins jumped him, cashed in his Money In The Bank contract, and stole the title right out of his hands, creating a ruse of the century.

Since then, Punk’s has been chasing gold, and just recently, he completed his quest by defeating Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, 2025.

It was an emotional moment for him, and he even teared up a bit while holding his newly won title in his hands. Following his victory, the fans saw him meet popular celebrity Post Malone, who was sitting ringside in the audience section.

They shook hands and hugged each other while exchanging words of appreciation for one another. Malone then took his cowboy hat and placed it on Punk’s head, which drew a huge pop from the crowd.

Ex-WWE Writer’s Prediction about CM Punk Comes True

Before SNME XLI on Saturday, ex-WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. predicted on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast that Punk would walk out of the show as the new champion after defeating Jey Uso, and that’s exactly what happened.

CM Punk vs. Jey Uso. I really eanted this to be CM Punk vs. someone else. And it’s nothing against Jey. I think they’ll give a good match, but I feel like I’ve seen this match a bunch. And I feel like it’s an easy match to pick because you don’t pick against CM Punk, especially on a Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Or maybe I’m tripping. And he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ll lose on Saturday Night’s Main Event, but not on the pay-per-view.’ Maybe it’s that. No, it’s not that. He’s gonna win this match. You know, I don’t see another way for this to go except for CM Punk to become the World Heavyweight Champion and then for The Vision to start pursuing him and making his life miserable. So, I have CM Punk to win. [6:16 onwards]

Freddie also predicted that The Vision would go after Punk if he won the title. It’d be interesting to see whether this part of his prediction will come true.
