CM Punk Still Doesn’t Understand WWE Hall Of Famer’s Bizarre Criticism

CM Punk

CM Punk, the World Heavyweight Champion, was criticized for wrestling in a t-shirt by a WWE Hall of Famer.

Former WWE Champion and Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently commented on CM Punk’s in-ring attire, criticising him for wearing a t-shirt while wrestling on the December 22nd episode of Raw.

At a WWE house show a few weeks later, Punk was seen taking off his shirt before a match with Bronson Reed, only to reveal another t-shirt underneath. When questioned whether it was to hit back at Kevin Nash’s criticism of him, Punk cleared the air by saying it was simply to make his fellow wrestler laugh and break character.

In a recent interview with Comingsoon.net, the Best In The World elaborated further on the matter, revealing that he didn’t understand Nash’s comments to begin with and reiterated the fact that he intended to keep it light and fun for the fans.

You know what, I can say it had nothing to do with him but obviously the genesis of the story is him saying that I wrestle in a shirt and I never wrestle in a shirt. I didn’t really understand what the criticism was, but thanks. You’re right. I did that to make people I was in the ring with laugh because when I’m on a house show, to me, that’s what it’s about. It’s about having fun.

If the fans see us having fun, they’re having fun. I like to keep it light, I like to make people laugh when I’m on the road and I’m away from my wife and people are away from their families. That’s our family while we’re on the road and I’m kind of the jokey guy. I’m gonna have fun on a house show.

CM Punk Will Face A New Challenger For The World Heavyweight Title

CM Punk successfully defended his World Title on the Netflix anniversary special episode of Raw against the intimidating Bron Breakker of The Vision by pinning him after delivering his finisher, the GTS (Go To Sleep).

This past week on Raw, Finn Balor of The Judgement Day interrupted Punk’s promo to announce that he wanted a title shot. CM Punk challenged Balor to a battle for the title on the same night in Düsseldorf, Germany, but much to the dismay of the fans in attendance, Balor decided to do it on January 19th, when Raw will be live in Balor’s home country of Ireland (In Belfast).

The match is official, and the two A-listers will face off Next Week on Raw.
