SURPRISE! CM Punk Crossed Paths With Vince McMahon After WWE Return
Amid WWE’s lawsuit involving the merger with UFC, court documents revealed CM Punk crossing paths with Vince McMahon.
Punk had emerged as a household name in the early 2010s owing to his unhinged promos, which often involved attacking other superstars or calling out the WWE higher-ups over various issues.
Despite being a heel at the time, the fans resonated with his reasoning, strongly supporting him and chanting his name during his in-ring segments and matches.
Punk also had multiple run-ins with the then-company boss, Vince McMahon, one of which involved a contract renegotiation segment, where the Voice of the Voiceless slapped him.
Owing to numerous frustrations, CM Punk acrimoniously quit the company in 2014, vowing to never return. After not wrestling for seven years, he joined rival company All Elite Wrestling.
However, he was fired after a backstage altercation with Jack Perry in 2023.
Punk shockingly made his WWE return at that year’s Survivor Series: WarGames in his hometown of Chicago.
CM Punk And Vince McMahon Shared A Flight
When CM Punk returned to WWE in November 2023, Vince McMahon was still a person in power.
In the recently released court documents, a text exchange between Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Nick Khan on December 10, 2023, reveals that Punk shared a flight with Vince McMahon while arriving for a live taping.
5:48 PM: Paul Levesque: So he’s on the AM plane ….. I just remembered punk is scheduled to be on it as well. You think that’s an issue ?
Following his departure from WWE in 2014, CM Punk took several jibes at Vince McMahon during podcasts and public appearances.
In 2023, Khan and Levesque also claimed that McMahon had no involvement in the company’s creative direction, which was proven otherwise as per earlier court records.
Since returning to the promotion, Punk has been featured in the title picture several times. He is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and is scheduled to defend his title at WrestleMania 42 against Roman Reigns.
