CM Punk Branded “A Cancer” By Top AEW Star

CM Punk speaking to crowd

Owing to his behaviour in recent months, CM Punk has been branded a “cancer” and a “detriment” to AEW by a major company star.

CM Punk soured many people’s perception of him during the AEW All Out media scrum, owing to comments made regarding The Elite, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, Colt Cabana, and others. A backstage fight broke out in the aftermath of this, leading to multiple suspensions, Punk included. He’s yet to resurface.

Given how the locker room feels about CM Punk following these actions, it’s expected that he’ll never return to the Tony Khan-helmed promotion. A buyout of his contract is reportedly being discussed, though it’s unclear when – or indeed if – this will be completed.

Chris Jericho, in particular, feels strongly against Punk, having stepped up as a locker room leader, alongside Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson, to guide the company forward. As described in a recent Fightful Select report, ‘The Ocho’ believes Punk is a “cancer” to AEW, to which Punk allegedly replied by stating it was none of his business.

Jericho has been unanimously praised for his efforts in leading AEW forward, having recently been signed to a multi-year contract extension that will see him work not only as an in-ring talent, but as a producer and a creative advisor as well. The deal will see him contractually obliged to AEW until at least December 2025.

As of this writing, CM Punk is believed to be the only party involved in the All Out incident whose status isn’t truly known. A number of backstage personnel have returned to their roles, bar Ace Steel who was released, while Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks are reportedly returning “imminently“.
