Chris Jericho Declares He’ll Beat Every Former ROH World Champion

Chris Jericho celebrates as ROH World Champion at AEW Grand Slam Dynamite 2022

Fresh off capturing the ROH World Championship from Claudio Castagnoli at Grand Slam Dynamite, Chris Jericho has vowed to take down every great champion before him.

Chris Jericho shocked the wrestling world on 21 September, ending Claudio Castagnoli’s reign as ROH World Champion. ‘The Ocho’ has now given himself a bold mission – defeating every great ex-ROH World Champion that stood before him.

This began on last night’s AEW Dynamite, with Jericho defeating Bandido – who held the ROH World Championship for 152 days – in the Lucha star’s anticipated debut. Up next is Bryan Danielson, a former ROH World Champion of 452 days. They’ll meet on Dynamite’s 12 October broadcast from Toronto.

It’s unknown who else, exactly, AEW could be gearing up to collide with Jericho, though it would certainly be out of character for them to have Jericho utter a statement of this nature without then backing it up.

Other ex-champions known – or at least believed – to be under AEW and ROH contracts are Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Jay Briscoe, Adam Cole, Jay Lethal, Kyle O’Reilly, Christopher Daniels, RUSH, and Jonathan Gresham. Meanwhile, Davey Richards is among those who fans are already hoping to see Jericho face in the future.
