AJ Styles could be at the end of his career, but a current world champion has a new role for The Phenomenal One in mind.

AJ Styles’ in-ring career in WWE is dangling by a thread. Gunther put WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg out to pasture in the summer of 2025, and in December, he forced John Cena to tap out to bring Cena’s illustrious career to a disappointing conclusion.

While both of those bouts were known to be the final ones in Goldberg and Cena’s careers, The Ring General is on the verge of making it a hat-trick at the Royal Rumble. On January 31st in Saudi Arabia, Gunther and AJ Styles will go one-on-one, and if Styles loses, then he will be forced to retire. The outcome of that bout might have already been spoiled by another WWE star.

But if Styles’ WWE career comes to an end, could he still be lacing up his boots elsewhere?

TNA World Champion Wants AJ Styles

Taking to social media, TNA World Champion Mike Santana shared a photo of him and Styles staring one another down, with the ominous message:

I’LL BE WAITING…

If Styles does lose at the Royal Rumble, a return to TNA, the promotion where he made his name, could well be on the cards. He could also lend some much-needed star power to New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he previously held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and led Bullet Club. Or he could reunite with some old faces from Bullet Club in AEW.
