Bryan Danielson On His 1 Issue With WWE Booking

Bryan Danielson has opened up about the one fault he found with WWE’s booking of him later in his career in the company.

In 2014, Bryan Danielson – then known as Daniel Bryan – reached the apex of sports entertainment by capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 30. Danielson was set up as the ultimate underdog but the will of the WWE fans carried him to a bout he wasn’t originally meant to be in.

Speaking on One Fall with Ron Funches, Bryan Danielson explained that type of booking much later in his WWE career when he had already been champion several times, didn’t make much sense to him:

“They wanted me to be an underdog. It was hard for the fans a little bit too, I think to connect with somebody who is an underdog, who, at this point, had won the title multiple times … Married also this beautiful woman who’s got a reality TV show. I’m really not an underdog in life anymore, right?”

“Against Brock Lesnar, it’s super easy to be an underdog. When you’re wrestling guys that aren’t that much bigger than you or anything like that — or people who, they may be bigger than you, but from what they’ve done in their career-wise, the fans would expect me to win as opposed to me being the underdog.”

Bryan Danielson will face a stiff test on the 30th of November edition of AEW Dynamite as he goes one-on-one with Dax Harwood of FTR.
