Bryan Danielson Injured At Forbidden Door

Bryan Danielson

The best of AEW and NJPW clashed at Forbidden Door in Toronto, Canada as wrestling fans around the world were eager to see what would happen when Bryan Danielson finally went one-on-one with Kazuchika Okada.

The dream match headlined a fantastic show with stars from both companies pulling out all the stops. There were implications for the Owen Hart Cup tournaments in Toronto as ROH Women’s Champion Athena put away Billie Starkz on The Buy In to advance to the semi-finals.

On the pay-per-view itself CM Punk – who was roundly booed and jeered by the Toronto crowd – overcame Japanese legend Satoshi Kojima to move on to the semi-finals of the men’s tournament where he’ll face either Roderick Strong or Samoa Joe.

The night’s main event, however, was a different beast altogether with Danielson entering the arena to his Final Countdown theme that he used previously in Ring of Honor, setting the stage for something awe-inspiring to take place.

Okada and Danielson fought in a hard-fought battle for almost half an hour before The American Dragon trapped The Rainmaker in a devastating submission causing Okada to tap out.

Bryan Danielson was forced to wrestle much of the match with one good arm, however, as he appeared to hurt it during the bout. At the post-show media scrum, Danielson revealed the extent of that injury saying “We think I fractured my right forearm with about ten minutes left to go.” Danielson then noted that after talks with AEW doctors and staff, it’s expected that he’ll miss 6-8 weeks of action. If that timetable is correct, it means Danielson could and likely would still be on the card for All In.
