Rick Steiner Believes Bron Breakker Should Use The ‘Steiner’ Name

Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker is “the guy” right now in NXT as the NXT Champion. However, Bron Breakker’s Hall of Fame father thinks he should use another name in WWE.

The company did originally plan to use the Steiner name, trademarking ‘Rex Steiner,’ but both WWE and Breakker (real name Bronson Rechsteiner) decided not to pass on the idea. Bron Breakker’s father, Rick Steiner, let his thoughts be known regarding the Steiner name not being used for his son on WWE’s “Table For 3” on Peacock.

“I know [WWE] came up with Bron Breakker. Why not like Bron Steiner? Why, like, who comes up with that?”

The Steiner name is considered royalty in the world of wrestling, having been present in the realm since the 1980’s. The name gets even more prestigious when the topic of tag teams comes up, with the pair of Breakker’s father Rick and uncle Scott being in the upper echelon in the WCW days.

Speaking of Scott Steiner, he would also bring the name individual prestige, holding the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in both 2000 and 2001. Breakker’s uncle would also be a key player in the legendary new World order (nWo) at one time as well.

Breakker would also comment on his in-ring name and why he doesn’t use the Steiner tag, stating that he wants to go on his “own route” and that would be his way to “pay tribute” to the Steiner Brothers.

“I kind of came up with it from football and just playing football I tried to hurt people or break people in half when I was blocking. That’s kind of how I came up with the name and I don’t feel like we need to use the [Steiner] name for me to be successful. I mean, I think I should, just go my own, go my own route and pay tribute to [the Steiner Brothers].”

Despite not being on WWE television for very long, Breakker has had a ton of success in NXT, being a two-time champion in the brand and holding it for a combined 237 days and counting.
