A number of matches may be “locked in” for WrestleMania 39, but a new report has claimed that the reports of Brock Lesnar’s opponent are completely untrue.

‘The Beast Incarnate’ made his return to WWE as the 12th entrant in the 2023 Royal Rumble. After a number of quick eliminations, Lesnar squared up to Gunther in a showdown which got a huge reaction from the crowd. However, it was the entrance of Bobby Lashley which became Lesnar’s downfall, as he was eliminated from the match by ‘The All Mighty’ to continue their rivalry which went on throughout 2023.

Whilst there has been plenty of talk around what shows Brock Lesnar will be appearing on, the strong speculation has been that his next match will be against Gunther after their stare down. However, a new report claims that this isn’t correct.

According to Dave Meltzer at The Wrestling Observer, any talk of a match between Lesnar and Gunther is “false”, whilst it’s like it’ll be the rivalry with Bobby Lashley which runs on.

Lesnar has been confirmed to be working both Montreal and WrestleMania. For Mania, it could be another match with Lashley. We were only told rumors of Gunther are false and that Steve Austin, who they had contacted for Lesnar, had turned down wrestling on the show.

There have been reports that Brock Lesnar has gained heat backstage over his actions in the Royal Rumble, although it is unlikely to lead to any action being taken against him.
