Bray Wyatt’s Illness Was “Career & Life Threatening”

Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt is on the road to recovery, and a new report reveals that his ongoing illness was a serious one.

After making his return to the company at Survivor Series 2022, Bray Wyatt wrestled only one televised match in WWE, taking on LA Knight in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match at the 2023 Royal Rumble.

Having defeated Knight, Wyatt laid out a challenge to Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley ahead of their singles bout at Elimination Chamber, saying he wanted to face the winner at WrestleMania. Lashley defeated Lesnar by disqualification, and he began a feud with Wyatt on television, but their match never came to pass.

Weeks ahead of WrestleMania 39, Wyatt disappeared from television amidst reports of a physical issue that was later reported to be an undisclosed illness. He hasn’t been seen since, and WWE is said to be taking “extra precautions” when it comes to his health.

Bray Wyatt Getting Closer To Being Cleared After Serious Illness

Earlier today, a report from Fightful Select revealed that Wyatt is not yet cleared to return to the ring, but there is some good news. The report notes that Wyatt is getting “closer” to being cleared after six months away, and that creative ideas have been presented for his return. One source told Fightful that some creative ideas were mentioned for as soon as September, though those plans obviously won’t come to fruition if he’s unable to be cleared by that time.

In an update to his report, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful tweeted that Wyatt’s illness was said to be both career and life-threatening, but that the star is on the mend. Sapp wrote:

“After today’s update, it was explained to Fightful that the illness that Bray Wyatt is actively recovering from was both career and life threatening. It’s great to hear that things are looking much better”

Prior to being taken off television, there were plans for Wyatt to be involved with both a returning Eric Young as well as reuniting with Alexa Bliss. However, Young has since returned to IMPACT Wrestling after requesting his WWE release, and Bliss is currently on maternity leave as she’s due to give birth in December.

Everyone at TJR Wrestling sends our best wishes to Bray Wyatt as he continues in his recovery.
